About SalaryCheckUK

SalaryCheckUK exists for one reason: your payslip shouldn’t be a mystery. We build free pay calculators that show exactly what you’ll take home — after income tax, National Insurance, pension and student loan — using the current official UK rates.

What we do

General salary calculators treat every job the same. Ours are built around real UK pay structures: NHS Agenda for Change bands with the correct pension tiers, teacher pay points with Teachers’ Pension bands, and proper pro-rata maths for part-time work. Scotland’s separate income-tax bands are built into every calculator.

How the numbers work

Every calculator runs in your browser using published rates: HMRC income tax and National Insurance rates for 2026/27, NHS Employers Agenda for Change scales, and Department for Education teacher pay points. We show our assumptions on every page (tax code, pension scheme, hours) and stamp each tool with the tax year it uses.

Our limits — stated plainly

We are an independent website. We are not part of HMRC, the NHS, or any government body, and our calculators give estimates, not financial advice. Your actual pay can differ because of your tax code, salary-sacrifice schemes, union fees, or circumstances we can’t see. For decisions that matter, check your payslip or speak to your payroll team.
